The new TECHNOCLASS^® product configurator has entered its initial testing phase. It generates possible variants of items, tailored to customer requirements.

The configurator is used in quoting and in preparing production for a specific item variant.

Working with the configurator requires no engineering background and can be used by the company’s sales staff. The resulting BOM is used to calculate planned cost and pricing. It is applied in production planning and management. The archived BOM is the basis for service support.

The principle

At its core is a base model – the materials and operations common to every variant. Variants are built on top of it through option lists, and for made-to-order items – through variables and formulas. Rules ensure that only valid combinations can be selected, and some decisions are made automatically. From the selected configuration, the system generates the corresponding specification (BOM), routing, and cost.
